Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Dostananagar village in Biaghat union under Gurudaspur upazila of Natore on Thursday noon.

The deceased were Jannati and Ferdousi, six-year old twin daughters of Md Rajiqul Islam of the village.

According to local sources, the incident took place around 12:00pm when the girls fell into the pond and went missing while they were playing next to a nearby pond.

After half an hour, their bodies were found floating on the water and taken to Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared them dead.

Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, doctor of the health complex, said the children died before taken to the complex.
