Mohammadpur fire: After son, father dies at SHNIBP

After the death of a two-year-old minor boy on Saturday's fire at capital’s Mohammadpur, his father, who suffered injuries in the fire, died at a hospital in the capital early Wednesday.

Md Sohel, with 80 percent burns on his body, breathed his last around 1:00am at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBP) while undergoing treatment.

Partha Sanker Paul, resident surgeon of the institute, confirmed the death.

His wife Laboni Akter is still being treated at the hospital in critical condition with 30 percent burns on her body.

The fire originated around 2:45am at their house at Nobodoy Housing area on Saturday.

Fire officials suspected that the fire started from a burning mosquito coil in a room where gas accumulated from a leak.
