Md Shahidul Alam NDC, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, has been appointed as the new director general of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET).

Earlier, this freedom fighter officer served as a member of the board of directors of Probashi Kalyan Bank and a director of Bangladesh Porjoton Corporation.

Born in Jashore's Jhikorgachha upazila's Ista village under Hajirbagh union, Md Shahidul Alam joined public survice in October 1993.
