Bangladesh has recorded 1,504 new cases of coronavirus infection in a day, taking the tally to 786,698.
The death toll from COVID-19 rose by 26 in a 24-hour count to 12,310, according to the latest government data released on Friday.However, the fatality rate remained unchanged to 1.56% in the corresponding period.
Another 1,529 people recovered from the illness through treatment at home and in hospital care, bringing the tally of recoveries to 729,039.
The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 92.69 percent.
As many as 18,294 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 8.22 percent.
Bangladesh is now seeing a steep rise in the numbers of both daily deaths and cases after a decline during the Eid holidays.
