Lightning kills 9 in Jamalpur, C’nawabganj

Nine people were killed by separate lightning strikes in Jamalpur and Chapainawabganj  on Thursday, according to media report.

The incidents of lighting  took place between afternoon and evening while rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind was occurred at places over the country.

In Jamalpur, at least six people were killed after lightning strike at separate places in Islampur upazila in the district.

The deceased are: Enamul Haque, Kala Sheikh, Shahjahan , Md Billal, Mohijal and Zabeb Miah.

The incident of lightning took place at 3:00pm during rain and storm in Islampur on Thursday.  

Islampur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mazedur Rahman confirmed the incident.

In Chapainawabganj, at least three people were killed after lightning strike in the afternoon.

The deceased are: Rahima(child), Marufa and Jalal.
