Lightning strike kills 14 across the country

At least 14 people were killed and dozens other injured across the country by lightning strike on Tuesday.

In Netrokona, eight farmers were killed and eight other injured while reaping paddy at a field in the haor area.

Seven of the deceased farmers are identified as Md. Bayazid Mia, of Bairati village of Paikura union of Kendua upazila, Md. Fazlur Rahman, of Kundli village of Kandiura union,  Achek Mia son of Khelu Fakir of Jagannathpur village of Mendipur union of Khaliajuri upazila, Bipul Mia son of Amir Sarkar of the same village, Monir Hossain son of Manjurul Haque of Batuail village, Hafeez Mohammad son of late Abdul Quader of West Fatehpur village of Madan upazila, Sharif and Maulana Atabur Rahman, son of the late Abdul Mannaf of the same village. 

The incident took place around 3:15 pm on Tuesday.

Netrokona Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi confirmed the death of seven people in lightning strikes.

In Manikganj, two people were killed in separate lightning strikes while Faridpur, Mymensingh, Sunamganj and Kishoreganj district saw death of one person each in thunderbolt striking on this unfortunate afternoon.
