We all have been affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact of the pandemic and its consequences are felt differently depending on our status as individuals and as members of society.
While some try to adapt to working online, homeschooling their children and ordering food online, others have no choice but to be exposed to the virus while keeping society functioning. Many people welcomed the holy month of Ramadan in incredibly difficult circumstances, living in desperate uncertainty and hardship, while struggling to put food on the tables for their families.
The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed many of those most vulnerable people deeper into extreme poverty. While everyone is preparing for Eid-ul-Fitr this year, we should remember our brothers and sisters across the country who are less fortunate and unable to enjoy delicious food like us during Eid.
To ensure that everyone enjoys this Eid during the Covid crisis, North South University Social Services Club launched a campaign named “Prottasha” in which Eid gifts are distributed to underprivileged people in various districts across Bangladesh.
The Eid gifts include a variety of essential cooking materials that can be used to prepare delicious meals and celebrate Eid. There are few things more rewarding than seeing their face light up as they receive a gift, so this is the ideal opportunity to make their Eid extra special.
NSUSSC firmly believes that it is one of their core responsibilities to provide families whose lives have been devastated by such critical circumstances out of their control with various essential items such as food for Eid, soap to wash with, and the hope they require to continue building a safer future. On the midst of this campaign, the President of NSUSSC, Ahamed Tahmid Zaman stated that as being one of the fortunate ones to be able to survive through such dire situation, it was our responsibility to provide a helping hand towards those who are struggling to make ends meet.
He also expressed his heartwarming appreciation on behalf of the entire club towards those generous souls who donated for such a noble cause.
