University student stabbed in Bagura

A university student sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed by two youths in Bagura Sadar on Friday night, police said Saturday.

The injured student has been identified as Abdullah Al Roman, 22, son of Tobibor Rahman of Khajapara area of Sadar. A student of a private university, Roman is fighting for his life at a Dhaka hospital.

Eye-witnesses said that Roman got into an argument with another youth outside Runner Plaza Shopping Mall on Friday evening. Passersby soon intervened in a bid to settle the row.

Unable to bear the humiliation, the accused came back, along with a friend, minutes later and stabbed Roman. The duo escaped before passersby could catch them.

Roman's friends rushed him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Later, he was shifted to a hospital in Dhaka as his condition deteriorated.

Bagura's Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Faisal Mahmud said, "Efforts are on to identify and nab the miscreants."
