3 returnees quarantined in Jhenaidah carrying Indian variant

Three returnees found to be carrying Indian variants have been quarantined by Jhenaidah district administration.

Trespassed on Moheshpur border area, the trio got their samples tested in Kushtia Medical College Hospital.

Jhenaidah district administration confirmed that the returnees have tested positive for Covid-19 of which type is Indian.

Two of them hailed from Natore and one from Barisal, sources said, adding that their samples will be sent to IEDCR on May 15 for reconfirmation of virus type.

Meanwhile, two other people, including one corona positive, fled from quarantine shelter Azad Rest House in Jhenaidah on Friday morning. However, police recaptured them.

Dr Selina Begun, civil surgeon of the district, said the three returnees are kept in corona unit of the Sadar Hospital and next course of action will depend on IEDCR report.

Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, said two quarantined persons escaped from rest house but police recaptured them from rooftop of a nearby building.
