Riding on a hattrick from Haitian forward Belfort Kervens, Dhaka Abahani Limited outplayed Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Society by 6-0 goals in their 15th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Abahani’s local defender Mamun Miah and Afghan defender Masih Saighani contributed one goal each for the giants while the other goal came after Rahamatganj Tajik defender Khurshed Beknazarov netted a goal in his own net.With this win, Dhaka Abahani climbed to second place with 32 points with a better goal difference in the league, downing Sheikh Jamal DC, who got 32 same points from 14 games.
Rahamatganj MFS dropped one place to ninth with their previous credit of 14 points from 15 matches.
Abahani took the lead in the 27th minute through Rahamatganj’s own goal before Belfort scored two quick goals in the 37th and 43rd minutes to finish the half-time with a 3-0 lead.
The Haitian forward completed his hat trick in the 62nd minute as Belfort netted his third goal utilising a shot pass from defender Mamun Miah inside the box.
Just after three minutes, Mamun netted the fifth for Abahani from a Belfort assist.
Afghan defender Masih scored the last and sixth goal with an eye-catching left-footer from outside the box in the 85th minute.Meanwhile, Bangladesh Police Football Club came one goal behind to beat Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-1 goals in the day’s second match at the same venue.
National forward Mohammed Jewel netted twice in the 74th and 86th minutes for Police FC after Uzbek defender Saiddoston Fozilov scored for Uttar Baridhara converting a penalty.
With the day’s feat, Police FC jumped to the eighth position earning 16 points while Uttar Baridhara remained 11th with nine points.
