Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury, law secretary of the newly dissolved central committee of Hefazat-e-Islam and former MP of Sunamganj-3 constituency, has been arrested.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) police arrested him from his residence in Bankalapara of Sylhet city at around 1:15 am on Friday.

Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury is also the central vice-president of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam.

Shahinur Pasha was elected as an MP in a by-election in Sylhet after the death of former foreign minister Abdus Samad Azad at the end of the four-party coalition government rule.
