Former Hefajat leaders Amini, Ehteshamul remanded afresh in separate mayhem cases

A Dhaka court  placed former assistant secretary general of Hefajat-e-Islam Mawlana Ataullah Amini and former assistant office secretary of the group’s Dhaka city unit MawlanaEhteshamul Haque on fresh remand in separate mayhem cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order, placing Amini on total six-day remand in two cases lodged with capital’s Motijheel and Paltan Police Stations over Hefajat-e-Islam anarchy in 2013.

The court also placed MawlanaEhteshamul Haque on two-day remand in a case lodged with the capital’s Paltan Police Station over Hefajat’s mayhem in Baitul Mukarram area on March 26, 2021.

The same court on April 22 had placed MawlanaAtaullahAmini on five-day remand in another case lodged over his group’s anarchy in capital’s Paltan and adjacent areas in 2013.

Earlier on April 23, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate NivanaKhayer Jessy had placed Ehteshamul on four-day remand in a case lodged with Paltan Police Station over Hefajat’s anarchy in May, 2013, in the capital’s Paltan and adjacent areas.

Police on April 22 arrested Ehteshamul from the capital’s Bongshal area.
