Eye specialist dies of Covid-19

Professor Fazlul Haque, former head of eye department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), died from coronavirus infections at a hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Fazlul, the 2nd batch student of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital, passed away at 12:15 pm while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Green Life Hospital in the capital.

Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of Foundation for Doctors' Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR), confirmed the matter.

He said that the eye specialist was suffering from various physical complications and was admitted to Green Life Hospital with the virus infection. He was later transferred to the ICU as his condition deteriorated.

He was a lifetime member of the Bangladesh Ophthalmologists Association (OSB).

According to the latest FDSR data, a total of 165 doctors died of Covid-19 in the country so far.
