Bangladesh Athletics Federation is raising a fund for the country’s needy athletes, trainers and athletics workers who are currently facing hard situations during the lockdown.
BAF General Secretary Advocate Abdur Rakib Montu wrote on social media, “Last year we raised a fund, under supervision of BAF President ASM Ali Kabir, to help needy athletes, trainers and athletics workers. We have also decided to extend our hands to them.
“Former javelin thrower Nargis Parvin from Khulna has been suffering from a brain tumour. We will provide her Tk 10,000 from the fund now.”
Last year, BAF raised a fund of Tk 9 lakh and distributed the amount among the country’s 200 needy athletes, coaches, referees, groundsmen as well as sports journalists.
