A man allegedly killed his wife in Hazaribagh area in the capital early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sajeda Begum Saju, 20, wife of a fish trader Titu Mia.Farhad Hossain, elder brother of the victim, said Saju had been living in a tin-shed room with her husband since they got married a year ago.
Tania Akter, the next door neighbor, went to call Sajeda for sehri but she found the door open but the light in the room was switched off. As she turned on the light, she saw Sajeda lying unconscious in bed. Her husband was not there.
Later, she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Sajeda dead around 6:30am, Farhad said.
Sekking justice, Farhad said that they are suspecting Titu killed Sajeda.
Titu is on the run since the incident.
Confirming the news, Kausar Ahmed Bhuiyan, sub-inspector of Hazaribagh Police Station, said they are suspecting that she was suffocated with a pillow.
