Abahani’s match venue and date changed

Dhaka Abahani Limited’s AFC Cup qualifying play-offs (preliminary round 2) against Club Eagles from Maldives deferred by a week as it will now take place on April 21 either in a neutral venue or in Maldives.
Dhaka Abahani team manager Satyajit Das Rupu confirmed the matter and said that they won’t be the host of the match.

“The venue has been changed. We have been told to find a neutral venue otherwise we have to play the game in Maldives,” he said.

The match was originally scheduled to be played on April 14 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital.

However, the Bangladesh government decided to enforce a complete lockdown on the same day for a week and the Asian Football Federation finally had to make a last-minute adjustment for the decision.

Abahani officially informed AFC about their inabilities to host an international match for the lockdown last week but AFC remained adamant about their previous decision.

But after another insistence from Abahani, AFC had to change their decision on Saturday.
