President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of veteran politician and former Ganaparishad member of Muradnagar-Homna-Deviddar constituency Alhaj Abul Hashem.
In a condolence message, the President said the death of Abul Hashem was an irreparable loss to the political arena of Bangladesh.Recalling his contribution to the country and its people, Hamid said, “Abul Hashem had played a very significant role in promoting educational activities across the country.”
The head of state prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Abul Hashem died of old-age complications at his Shamoly residence in the city at 11am today at the age of 99.
He is survived by 10 daughters, two sons, a host of relatives and admirers.
