Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Wednesday imposed a ban on motorcycles operating under ride-sharing services to keep the coronavirus situation under control.

Confirming the news, Sarwar Alam, director (enforcement) of the BRTA, said the ban will be effective until further notice (two weeks for now) from Thursday.

BRTA issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday and sent the directives to the service providing companies.

Other vehicles operating under ride-sharing services were asked to following the government directives, it said.
