Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of first female musician of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Namita Ghosh.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.Earlier, Namita breathed her last at city’s Popular Hospital while undergoing treatment on Friday night.
Namita joined the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra as an artiste during the Liberation War in 1971 at the age of 14.
Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, the radio station run by the Bangladesh government in exile, kept the spirit of the nation alive during the nine months of the Liberation War of 1971.
On July 22, 2020, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated Tk21 lakh for the cancer and eye treatment of Namita Ghosh.
