Army beat Police in opener of Bangabandhu Independence Day Volleyball

Army beat Police by 3-0 sets (25-17, 25-22,25-19 points) in the men’s opening match of Bangabandhu Independence and National Day Volleyball Competition 2021 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.

Bangladesh Volleyball Federation dedicated the meet to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Mujib Borsho.

In the day’s other matches, Air Force beat Titas Club by 3-0 sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-19 points) and Navy beat BKSP by 3-1 sets (26-28, 25-19, 25-21, 25-08 points).

This year, a total of 9 teams, split into four groups, are taking part in the meet – Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Ansar, Power Development Board, Titas Club, Jail and Fire Service & Civil Defense.

The best 8 teams will play quarterfinals on Macrh 23. the semis and finals will be held on March 24 and 25. 

Walton Group executive director FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. BVF general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku and other officials were also present there.
