Portugal to reopen to tourism from May 17 including those who aren't vaccinated

Portugal is looking to welcome UK travellers back from May 17 regardless of whether they have received a Covid-19 vaccine, the country's tourism minister has confirmed.

British holidaymakers will be granted entry if they are either able to show proof of a Covid-19 vaccine, or of a negative Covid test result taken before travel.

Rita Marques, Portugal's Secretary of State for Tourism revealed the news while speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

She had previously announced that Portugal had plans to welcome Brits back for summer, although at the time she said that it could be May or June depending on the Covid situation.
