A Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Saturday informed that they would only host Bangladesh Premier League only after getting assured of the availability of the national cricketers in the cash-rich tournament.
“We need to check our cricket schedule to arrange the BPL as we have a couple of windows open for the tournament. We can either arrange it for November but the national team is scheduled to tour Pakistan during that time or we can do it in December,” said BPL governing council secretary Ismail Haider Mallick.
“But still, New Zealand are scheduled to visit Bangladesh during this period. So ultimately, we may have to arrange it in January next year.
“National team cricketers may not be able to participate in several NCL, BCL or the Dhaka League competition due to the international tours and series. We want to make sure we get all the front-line cricketers of Bangladesh in the BPL,” he added.
Earlier, The Daily Sun reported that BCB didn’t make any slots to organise BPL this year.
According to a BCB domestic calendar for 2021-2023 obtained by The Daily Sun, the tournament will take place between January 14 to February 18, 2022 while the ninth edition of the tournament will be played between January 3 to February 17, 2023.
“The calendar isn’t finalised yet as the initial decision is to arrange the NCL in March and the DPL in May,” he said.
