Bangladesh Blue won the gold medal in the ninth Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games women’s cricket event when they beat Bangladesh Green by eight wickets in the final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Bangladesh Blue bowlers set up another easy victory as Jahanara Alam and Mumta Hena picked up three wickets each while Salma Khatun took two wickets as they bowled out Bangladesh Green for 72 runs in 36 overs after electing to field first.Rumana Ahmed made the highest 14 runs for Bangladesh Green.
In reply, opener Shamima Sultana made 31 runs while Fargana Hoque scored unbeaten 28 runs as Bangladesh Blue reached 74-2 in 18.2 overs and became unbeaten champions in the event.
Shamima was named player of the final while her team-mate Fariha Islam was adjudged player of the tournament.
Bangladesh Blue earlier defeated Bangladesh Green and Bangladesh Red comprehensively in the group stage while Bangladesh Green defeated Bangladesh Red in their last match to qualify for the final.
