Rupali Bank Krira Parisad emerged champions while Manha’s Castle runners-up and Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar third in the Mujib Borsho Walton First Division Chess League 2021, sponsored by Walton Group and organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation.
Rupali Bank earned 21 points, Manha’s Castle 19 points and Suhasini Marium Manha 18 points after the 11th and last round held at the BCF hall room on Sunday.Among others, Dhaka Chess Club fourth with 11 points, Esoft Arena Chess Club fifth with 11, Khelaghar Daba Sangah of Gopalganj sixth with 10 points, Agrani Bank Daba Dal seventh with 10 points, Mir Chess Club eighth with 9 points, Basir Memorial Chess Club ninth with 8 points and Kasparov Chess Club 10th with 8 points.
Two bottom placed teams -- Morning Glory Chess Club earned 6 points and Dhaka Knight’s Chess Club earned one point.
The prize-distribution and closing ceremony held on Monday. Walton Group Executive Director and Head of Games and Welfare FM Iqbal Bin Anowar (Dawn) distributed prizes among winners as chief guest. BCF vice-president K M Shahidullah, general secretary Syed Shahab Uddin Shamim and others were also present there.
Champions Rupali Bank were awarded by Tk 50,000 while Manha’s Castle Tk 30,000 and Sultana Kamal Tk 20,000.
Total 12 teams participated in the event and the event was held in round-robin league system.
