Lily Chowdhury laid to rest at Banani graveyard

Theatre activist Lily Chowdhury, also wife of martyred intellectual Munir Chowdhury, was laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard after Zohr prayers Tuesday.

Family members said a namaz-e-janaza was offered seeking salvation prior to the burial beside her son Mishuk Munir’s grave.

Earlier, her body was kept at her Banani residence till 10:30 am for relatives, family and friends to bid her farewell.

Later, the body was taken to central Shaheed Minar premises for common people so that they could pay homage to her, said Asif Munir, son of the deceased.

Lily Chowdhury passed away at the age of 93 at her Banani residence at 5.30 pm on Monday.

Her son Mishuk Munir, a teacher of Dhaka University’s Journalism Department and cinematographer, along with filmmaker Tareque Masud died in a road accident in 2011.
