A cargo vessel (MV BB-1158) with 800 metric tonnes of coal sank in Pashur Channel of Mongla Port of Bagerhat.  

The accident took place at Ismail Char of Pashur Channel of Mongla Port at 11:00pm on Saturday.

Mongla Coast Guard rescued 13 persons, including master, staff and security guard, who were on the lighter vessel.

Mongla Port Authorities visited the incident spot on Sunday morning.  

The authorities are yet to recover the lighter vessel.
