IU student adviser Prof Saidur Rahman dies of Covid-19

Professor Dr M Saidur Rahman, student advisor and head of the Bangla Department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, died of Covid-19 at a hospital in the capital on Thursday morning.

He breathed his last at 6.30 am while undergoing treatment at Ibn Sina Hospital, Professor Dr M Rashiduzzaman of Bangla department confirmed the matter.

Dr Saidur Rahman along with his wife tested positive for Covid-19 on January 27.

According to his family, Dr Saidur Rahman was admitted to Dhaka Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on February 2 due to increasing lung complications. Later, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Ibn Sina Hospital.

IU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Saidur Rahman.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.

Teachers Association, Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Parishad, Zia Parishad and Officers Association have also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Saidur Rahman.
