Wild elephant kills disabled girl in Bandarban

A physically challenged girl was killed in an attack by wild elephant at Amtali para in Aziznagar union under Lama upazila of Rangamati early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Bobby Akter, 26, daughter of Mohammad Solaiman, a resident of the area.

Haresh Mia, member of Ward 9 of Aziznagar Union parishad, said a herd of elephants entered into the area and attacked Solaiman’s house at 2:00am. Everyone of the house was able to flee except Bobby. At one stage, an elephant attacked Bobby, leaving her dead on the spot.

Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, officer-on-charge (OC) of Lama Police station, confirmed the matter to media.
