There is a bright prospect for expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Greece, President Abdul Hamid said Tuesday.
He said it was important to launch a Greek residential mission in Dhaka to harness this potential, his Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters. The President hoped that the Greek government would soon take positive steps in this regard.
The President said the people of Bangladesh are very much interested in learning about the ancient Greek civilisation and the traditions and culture of Greece.
He said that many expatriate Bangladeshis are working in Greece and playing an important role in the economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Referring to the Rohingya problem, the President hoped that the international community, including Greece, would make every effort to resolve the issue.
The newly-appointed Ambassador of Greece said that his country is interested in opening a residential mission in Bangladesh and necessary steps will be taken in this regard soon.
Praising Bangladesh's success in tackling the coronavirus outbreak, Kyvetos sought the full cooperation of the President in discharging his duties.
