Several hundreds of vehicles remain stuck on both sides at Paturia- Daulatdia ferry ghat since Sunday night as people flocked towards Dhaka after enjoying a three-day holiday.Bishwa Zaker Manzil’s Urs in Faridpur also led to the pressure of vehicles on the route, BIWTC officials said.
The tailback stretched from Daulatdia Zero Point to Goalanda Feed Mill on Dhaka-Khulna highways, causing sufferings to the passengers.
Apart from this, another tailback was created from Goalanda Mor in Rajbari to Felu’s shop.
Abu Abdullah Rony, Manager of BIWTC Daulatdia Office, said a total of 16 ferries are in service on these routes. To reduce sufferings, stranded passengers buses are being allowed to cross the river on a priority basis, he said.
