Ibrahim Khaled put on life support

Renowned economist and former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled has been put on life support at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

"The physical condition of Khaled is very critical. And he has been placed on life support from Sunday afternoon," said Professor Kanak Kanti Barua, vice chancellor of BSMMU.

Mentioning that he might have suffered a brain stroke, Kanak said that there is no scope to diagnose the matter by conducting a CT scan due to his ailing condition.

Khaled, who also served Bangladesh Krishi Bank as chairman and managing director, had earlier tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on February 1. He was later shifted to BSMMU.

He served in Sonali, Agrani and Pubali banks as well.
