Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka airport and Shyampur areas early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Kibria, 16, a motor garage mechanic of Uttarkhan area and Kabul, 25, a bus helper.

A speedy truck hit a motorcycle on which Kibria and his friend Sumon were riding to go to their home around 1:00 am near Dhaka airport, leaving both of them injured, said Saiful Islam, sub-inspector of Airport Police Station.

Later, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead around 5:00am, he said.

Sumon, however, survived with minor injuries. Police are yet to identify the truck.

Meanwhile, transport worker Kabul died after being hit by a waste-laden covered van when he was crossing the road in Shyampur's New Iron Road area around 11:00 pm on Saturday.

Locals took the injured to DMCH where doctors declared him dead around 12:15 am.

Sub-inspector Somoresh Kumar Das of Shyampur Police Station confirmed the matter to media and said police seized the truck after the incident.

Both the bodies were kept at hospital morgue for autopsies, he said.
