6 get death for killing four of a family in Kurigram

A Kurigram court sentenced six people to death for killing four members of a family in Bhuruingamari upazila of Kurigram in 2014.

Beside, a man Nainul Islam has been acquitted in this case.

The death row convicts are: Mamtaj Uddin, Nazrul Islam Majnu alias Manju, Amir Hamja alias Amir Hossain, Jakir Hossain alias Russel Khan, Jalal Gazi alias Polash Gazi and Hasmat Ali Sheikh while another convict remains fugitive.

Kurigram District Sessions Judge's Court Judge Md Abdul Mannan delivered the verdict in presence of five convicts at 12:30 pm.

According to the case sources, the convicts attacked the house of Sultan Ahmed, a resident of Diadanga village in Bhuruingamari upazila of Kurigram and hacked Sultan Mandal, wife Hajera Begum, daughter Nilima Akter Mausumi, niece Romana and Anika on January 15, 2014, leaving Sultan, Romana and Anika dead on the spot and Hajera, Nilima seriously injured in the attack.

The injured were rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.

Hafizur Rahman, son of Sultan Mandal, filed a murder case with Bhuruingamari Police Station.

Public Prosecutor (PP) SM Abraham Lincon confirmed the information to media.
