Covid-19: Bangladesh reports lowest number of deaths in 282 days

Bangladesh confirmed five more deaths from the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours till Friday 8am, taking the toll at 8,253.

This is the lowest number of deaths in 24 hours in 282 days. On May 6 last year, the country recorded three deaths from Covid-19 in the early months of the outbreak in Bangladesh.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter by a press release issued by on Friday afternoon.

In the meantime, 404 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 5,39,975.

The latest day's infection rate was 2.82 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 14.13 percent. The death rate stands at 1.53 percent.

Meanwhile, 422 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 486,393 with a 90.08 percent recovery rate.

Meanwhile, 14,328 samples were tested in 210 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 38,22,345 samples have been tested in the country so far.
