Global Covid-19 cases top 106.4 million


Amid concern over the new variant of Covid-19 in different parts of the world, the global cases of the deadly virus crossed 106.4 million as of Tuesday.

The global case count reached 106,471,878 with 2,315,055, according to the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The US has registered 27,090,932 cases as of Tuesday morning while the death toll mounted to 464,933.

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,847,304  while the death toll  rose to 155,158 till Tuesday.

Two types of vaccines are being administered to the people in India.

Brazil’s total Covid cases reached 9,524,640 with 231,534 deaths.

Bangladesh reported 16 new Covid-19 deaths on Monday, taking the national death tally to 8,221.

Vaccination in Bangladesh

The government rolled out a countrywide mass Covid-19 vaccination drive on Sunday. The vaccine will be administered at 1,005 centers across the country.

According to the DGHS, 50 booths have been set up in 50 hospitals in Dhaka while a total of 204 teams of health workers will administer the vaccine.
