Five cloth shops fined Taka 90,000 in Rangpur

A mobile court of the district administration in separate raids fined five cloth shops Taka 90,000 for running business evading huge government revenue at the Central Road area in the metropolis on Thursday.

Officials said Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha led the raids at the shops with assistance of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

During the raids, the mobile court fined the five shops Taka 90,000 after finding huge stocks of unauthorised and substandard cloths and common consumers were being cheated buying those from the shops.

Talking to reporters, Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha said such drives would be conducted frequently across the district to stop marketing of substandard and adulterated products and ensure rights of the consumers.
