Derailment halts rail communication with Sylhet

The rail communications of Sylhet with other parts of the country remained suspended following derailment of ten compartments of an oil-laden train at Maijgaon area in Sylhet's Fenchuganj last night.

Locals said that the compartments of Sylhet-bound train veered off the tracks in the area around 12 midnight, disrupting the train movement on the routes.

A relief train from Moulvibazar’s Kulaura is on the way to spot to salvage the train, Dulal Chandra Das, senior sub assistant mechanical engineer of Kulaura Railway Station, said.

It might take couple of hours to resume the rail communication, he said.
