31 more teenagers detained for harassing people at Hatirjheel

Police detained 31 more teenagers on charges of harassing people who come to enjoy their leisure at Hatirjheel in the capital on Monday night.

Confirming the newd, police headquarters AIG (Media and PR) Sohel Rana said that the operation was conducted from 4.00 pm to 8.00pm on Monday. A total of 102 people have been detained so far. A motorcycle has also been seized. An action has been taken against five of the detainees as per law. Others have been conditionally handed over to their guardians.

On January 26, on the Facebook page run by the media and public relations wing of the police headquarters, a person alleged that some teenagers were harassing the people visiting Hatirjheel area.

Hatirjheel police were given a directive in this regard from the police headquarters. Since January 26, the police have been conducting regular raids in Hatirjheel and surrounding areas in uniform and white attire. The raids were carried out to keep the entertainment area uninterrupted and peaceful and to keep them free from any kind of harassment.
