Missing Bangladeshi student’s body recovered from river in Canada

Canada’s police recovered the body of a Bangladeshi student from Red River in Winnipeg of the country’s Manitoba province on Wednesday, 18 days after he went missing in the river.

The deceased was identified as Samiuzzaman Sami, 24, son of Md Asadul Islam, hailing from Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah.

Sami was an honours’ student in computer science at the University of Manitoba. In addition, he was engaged in a part-time job as a data analyst at a company called Bison Transport in Manitoba.

According to sources, Sami used to live in a rent apartment with some other Bangladeshi friends near Red River.

Winnipeg City Police said Sami had been missing since January 9 but his friends informed police on January 20.
