2 get death for killing man in Madaripur

A Madaripur court has sentenced two people to death for killing a man in Rajoir upazila of Madaripur on November 29, 2012.

Madaripur District Sessions Judge's Court Judge Laylatul Ferdaous delivered the verdict on Wednesday noon.

The death row convicts are: Salim Munshi, son of Yousuf Ali Munshi and Pabel Shikder, son of Abul Kalam Ajad, both of them hailing from Haridasdi-Mahendradi union of the upazila.

The court also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each.

The convicts remained fugitive since the incident.

Public prosecutor (PP) Siddiqur Rahman Singh confirmed the matter to media.

According to the case statement, Shahed Beg, 40, son of Alemuddin Beg of Mahendradi area of Rajoir upazila, went to collect money to go to Libya on the night of November 29, 2012 but he did not return home.

In the next morning, the body of Shahed was found in a canal near his house.
