Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club earned the successive victory while Chittagong Abahoni Limited and Saif Sporting Club tasted first win in their respective Bangladesh Premier League matches on Thursday.
Ctg Abahoni opened their account in the point table when they beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 1-0 margin in their second match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.Brazilian forward Nixon Guylherme Rocha Brizolara netted the match-winner in the 30th minute that made Arambagh losing their consecutive matches in the competition.
Both sides wasted several close chances during the match as Arambagh’s Nigerian forward Christopher Chizoba Iyikwobe shot was deflected by Ctg Abahoni goalkeeper Mohammad Nayem in the 10th minute.
Arambagh goalkeeper Abdul Kashem Milon also denied a right-footed shot from Ctg Abahoni’s midfielder Rakib Hossain in the 26th minute.
However, just after four minutes, Brazilian forward Nixon Guylherme broke the deadlock by scoring a goal with a right-footed shot from inside the box, off a cross from Nigerian Forward Idenyi Chinedu Mathew in the 30th minute (1-0).
Ctg Abahoni could have doubled their margin but Arambagh goalkeeper Milon denied a powerful shot of Ivorian midfielder cum captain Kpehi Jean Charles Didier Brossou in the 72nd minute.
In the day’s second match, Saif SC beat Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 2-1 goals at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.Local forward Arifur Rahman and Nigerian midfielder John Okoli scored one each for Saif SC while Japanese midfielder cum captain Uryu Nagata reduced the margin for Mohammedan SC Ltd.
Saif now have earned four points with one win and one draw from two matches while Mohammedan have three points to their name with one win and one defeat from two matches.
Forward Arifur scored the first goal for Saif with a right-footer utilising a short pass from Nigerian forward Kenneth Ikechukwu Ngwoke in the 44th minute (1-0).
Just after three minutes, Nigerian midfielder Okoli doubled the margin from inside the box in the extra time of the first half (2-0).
Japanese midfielder cum captain Uryu Nagata reduced the margin for Mohammedan with a header off a free kick from midfielder Habibur Rahman Sohag in the 60th minute (2-1).
In the day’s third match, Sheikh Jamal DC completed consecutive win beating Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 2-1 goals at the BNS.
Gambian defender Pa Omar Jobe and his compatriot cum captain Solomon King Kanform scored one goal each for Sheikh Jamal DC while substitute forward Mahaedi Hassan Royel reduced the margin for Muktijoddha SKC.
With the day’s feat, Sheikh Jamal DC Ltd got six points with two wins from two matches while Muktijoddha SKC are yet to open their account.
Gambian defender Omar Jobe scored the first goal after getting a pass from his compatriot forward cum captain Solomon King Kanform in the 38th minute (1-0).
Solomon then doubled the margin with a right-footer in the 60th minute (2-0).
Muktijoddha Forward Royel, who came in place of Cameroonian forward Christian Bekamenga Aymard, reduced the gap with an eye-catching header, off a long cross from defender Sujon Mia in 93rd minute of the game (2-1).
