Govt trying to send back Bahrain expatriates

The government is earnestly trying to send back Bahrain expatriates who earlier came home due to corona pandemic.

Bangladesh mission abroad is in contact with the Bahrain authorities concerned to send back the expatriates, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The expartries, whose visas expired, were asked to contact Bangladesh mission in Manama and adhere to online registration. Of them, 967 people responded positively.  The Foreign Ministry of the host country was requested to consider their return. The other exptriates have scope to follow the procedure,” he said.

Bahrain government has regularised visas of 30,000 Bangladeshis following a general amnesty, said the foreign ministry press release adding that request to regularise 25,000 others is pending with the decision of that government.

A group of imprisoned Bangladeshis were released by the Bahrain government under general amnesty and sent back home. The country has been refraining from issuing visa for Bangladeshis since 2018. Bangladesh government is engaged in bilateral process with that governemnt to resume visas.
