Shakib shows a glimpse of returning to form

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan showed a glimpse of his returning to form with the bat but his team, Mahmudullah XI suffered an eight-wicket thrashing against Tamim XI in the second and last intra-squad practice match at BKSP on Saturday.

Shakib made a cautious 52 off 82 balls while opener Naim Sheikh struck 50 off 68 deliveries as Mahmudullah XI scored 223-7 in a 45-over contest after sent into bat first.

Pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin and off-spinning all-rounder Mahedi Hasan claimed two wickets each for Tamim XI.

Skipper Tamim Iqbal then led his side from the front with smashing run-a-ball 80 with five fours and three sixes before his retiring not out while Nazmul Hossain and Liton Das made 61 and 48 runs respectively as their team reached the target 224-2 in 35.2 overs comfortably.

Bangladesh will now play against West Indies in the first of the three-match ODI series on January 20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
