An elderly man died after being hit by a train in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar area on Sunday morning.

Details about the victim, age around 60, could not be known immediately.

Confirming the news, Sanumong Marma, an assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Station, said the train hit the man at 7:00am in Shutki Patti area of Karwan Bazar, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctors declared him dead around 8:30am, he said.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, he further added.
