Jubo League leader gunned down in Cox’s Bazar

A local Jubo League leader was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Usman Sikder, 38. Son of Mohammad Ali, hailing from Kachubnia area of Sabrang union of the upazila, was an organising secretary of Sabrang union Juba League .

Usman was the former vice-president of Upazila Chhatra League.

The miscreants shot Usman to death in front of his house around 5.30am while he was going to the mosque for Fajr prayers.

Sabrang Union Parishad (UP) chairman Nur Hossain and Teknaf Upazila Juba League president and upazila chairman Nurul Alam confirmed his death.

Ayub Hossain, a doctor at the emergency department of the Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, said Usman Sikder died before he was taken to the hospital. Three bullet injuries were found on his chest, abdomen and his back.

Teknaf Model Police Station Inspector (Operations) Khorshed Alam said, police have recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A process is underway to file a case in this connection, he said.
