Panamanian flag-carrying ship 'Venus Triumph' has anchored in the deep seaport at Matarbari — for the first time — in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar.

The 120-metre long mother vessel with a capacity to carry 9,680 tons weight, reached the port on Tuesday 10:30am.

Later, the pilots of the port took the ship from the deep sea to the jetty built temporarily for coal-fired power plant.

Chattogram Port Member (Harbor and Marine) Commodore Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to media.

It is learned that Ancient Steamship Company Limited is acting as the domestic agent of the ship of C-Shore Marine Pvt. Ltd. and Green Enterprise will act as the Stividor.

According to the port sources, the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) completed all the preparations for receiving ships at the jetty.

The Chattogram Port will receive the tolls for the ships docking at Matarbari.

Earlier on 22 December, the ship sailed from the Indonesian port of Pelabuhan Cilegon with parts of a steam generator to the Matarbari deep seaport.
