Saudi-bound Bangladeshis sent back from Abu Dhabi airport after flights shut down

More than one hundred Saudi-bound workers returned home from Abu Dhabi airport on Tuesday night following the sudden decision of the Saudi government to suspend all international flights.

Confirming the news, Shariful Hasan, head of BRAC's migration program, said they were flying to Saudi Arabia via Abu Dhabi from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by an Etihad Airways flight on December 20.

But as per the announcement of the Saudi government, the flight was cancelled and the workers were sent back to the country on the same plane from Abu Dhabi airport.

Many of the returnees were seen crying helplessly at the airport as they returned to the country in just one day.

Later, BRAC arranged food and accommodation for them at its safe home.
