JU observes Martyred Intellectuals Day

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday (today) observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day with due respect and befitting manner.

Marking the day, JU acting registrar Rahima Kaniz placed a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar of the university around 7.30am on behalf of JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Farzana Islam.

Provost of Sheikh Hasina Hall Prof Dr Bashir Ahmed, president of JU Officers' Association deputy registrar Abu Hasan, general secretary of JU Officers' Association Abdur Rahman were present, among others.

Later, Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) and others organisations of the university placed floral wreath at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial this morning.

Marking the day, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast at all administrative buildings to show respect to the martyrs.

Besides, a Milad and doa mahfil was arranged at the central mosque of the university.

A special prayer (munajat) was offered there seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of martyred intellectuals.
