The Amar Ekushey Book Fair became uncertain due to coronavirus pandemic and there was discussion that it will be held virtually.
But after a meeting on Sunday (today) at Bangla Academy, a decision was learnt that the book fair will be held like previous time. Its schedule, however, will be changed.It is learnt that Bangla Academy was in a dilemma whether they will hold the book fair or not amid coronavirus. As a result, the organisation made a proposal to hold the fair virtually.
But poets and writers protested it on the social media. They also urged authorities concerned to hold the book fair in presence changing the schedule.
Accordingly, publishers held a meeting with Bangla Academy Director General Habibullah Siraji.
Meeting sources said the book fair will be held like previous time. But it will not be held in February and its schedule will be notified later.
