Women league to conclude Sunday

Tricotex 3rd Women’s Football League (WFL) will conclude on Sunday at Bir Sherestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium. Two matches will be held on the last day -- Kumilla United to play Nasrin Sports Academy at 11:30am while Spartan MK Gallactico Sylhet FC to face Jamalpur Kacharipara XI at 2:30pm.

After the day’s matches, president of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Md Salahuddin will distribute medals among the champions and runners-up teams as the chief guest.

The star-studded outfit Bashundhara Kings ended the seven-team league as the all-win-record The big-budgeted club secured full 36 points with 12 consecutive wins from 12 matches while Nasrin SA earned the second-slot with 27 points from 11 matches.

Kings forward cum captain Sabina Khatun became the top scorer with 35 goals followed by another kings forward Krishna Rani Sarker with 22 goals.

The country’s top football outfit Kings earlier secured the title with one match to spare after crushing Jamalpur Kacharipara XI by 13-1 goals in their 11th league match at the same venue last Sunday. 

On Monday, Begum Anwara SC beat FC Uttar Bongo by 4-2 goals at the same venue. Midfielder Selina Khatun made a hat-trick scoring three goals in the 48th, 53rd and 83rd minutes while captain cum midfielder Kolpona scored one in the 12th minute for Begum Anwara. Midfielder Mosamat Sultana and forward Rozina Akter netted one goal each in the 84th and 89th minutes for FC Uttar Bongo.
